This is a bilingual camp for young people who love music, singing, rhythm and movement and is geared toward creating and producing an original musical. This two-week camp is offered,
run and managed by La petite fanfare music school in Chelsea.
Since it was established in 2005, La petite fanfare has made a name for itself as a provider of quality music teaching in the heart of Chelsea. Its day camp aims to pursue this tradition.
Two weeks of camp, including instrument lessons and childcare service: $499.
La petite fanfare music camp in Chelsea is a bilingual day camp for children
aged 5 to 12 (age on Spet. 1). Each child will develop his or her taste for music and improve his or
her instrumental abilities. Held at Chelsea Elementary School on Old Chelsea Road, La petite fanfare music camp will provide a positive, creative and safe learning environment.
Beginner musicians: the child explores the instrument of his or her choice and will master the basics by the end of the camp. She will take part in small-group workshops. The instruments are provided by the camp but may not be taken home.
Experienced musicians: children who already play may bring their instrument to camp and continue their instruction there. This instruction will be in the form of private lessons for small groups of instrumentalists at the same ability level, and musical creativity in which the child will develop his or her talent, improvise and perform with other musicians. It is also a golden opportunity to discover another instrument.
Throughout the camps, professional musicians will put on mini shows for us. This gives the children a chance to discover their instrument and to find inspiration in the talents shared with us.
Each two-week camp finsihes with the staging of a musical comedy for parents and friends. All the children participate in the show. The camp’s regular activities are geared toward producing this musical comedy and which includes instrumental music, choir numbers and theatre. Physical activities and games are held outside everyday or in the gym when the weather is inclement.
Each day, all children discover their inner singer through choral singing workshops. These workshops will teach breathing technique and voice placement. It is also the opportunity to learn some of the songs that will be incorporated in the musical comedy show at the end of camp.
Let’s not forget that summer is also vacation time. Several times a day we play outside. We have the schoolyard at the back of the school to ourselves! We try to integrate rhythm, games and music. Music really is fun!

Registration fees are $499, payable at registration time. Differed payments are possible. Registration fees include course materials and the loan of an instrument at camp, if required, as well as child care services.
The form(s) can then be mailed or delivered to La petite fanfare with the payment of registration fees (see address below).
Childcare service are offered Monday to Friday from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. and from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.

Requirements: at least 16 years of age, musical knowledge, a desire to work with children, good imagination, sound understanding of both official languages, and a great sense of humour.
